Celebrating cultural harmony

India is a vast country, with people belonging to different religions living amicably for centuries together. 
The rich traditions of tolerance, perseverance, plurality and assimilation have kept the identity of the country intact and civilization thriving. Keeping these values in mind the gd salwan public school organized various activities :
·         Inter house display board competition
·         Inter house film making competition
·         Inter class Power point Presentation
The theme of all these activities were cultural harmony where students of each house/class  were given specific topics related to folk art/ tribal art/environment, celebrating festivals , dances….. These activities were meant for the students of classes VI-XI where the students participated and learnt the cultural values , love for country and helped in maintaining national integration of the country.

To provide students an insight into the heritage club activities. ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION The heritage club activity was conducted on 22 nd May, 2015. The students were made aware of the meaning of heritage and its various types. They were asked some general questions on what they know about the heritage of India. The students were also asked to share their the purpose and the objective of joining the Heritage Club. They were then asked to make an Ad on how they can conserve the Natural Heritage. OUTCOMES The students showed enthusiasm in learning more about India’s rich heritage. They showed their creativity by preparing the Ad work.

Cherishing India’s freedom

Cherishing India’s freedom August 15, 1947  is the day engraved in gold in the history of India. It is the day when India attained its freedom from the clutches of a long slavery of over 200 years of the British Rule. It was a long and hard struggle in which many freedom fighters and great men laid their lives for our beloved motherland. To celebrate the 71st Independence Day and 75years of Quit India, the students of  Gyan Devi Salwan Public School celebrated the month of August as the Social Science Month. A plethora of activities were planned to celebrate our Independence, Our Heritage, Our beautiful Culture. Three Intra Class Activities were conducted from Classes VI-XI. Regarding students as active seekers of knowledge by throwing light on the multiplicity of history and cultural experiences that exists in India and in an attempt to wet student’s appetite for historical inquiry, the Dharohar club conducted activities like creating Dharohar membership cards, Dharohar song and pottery workshop in the month of April – May.
