cultural consciousnesses created through spic macay
Cultural heritage is unique and irreplaceable, which
places the responsibility of preservation on the current generation.
Preserving
one’s culture is significant as it is a manifestation of the freedom of belief
and of expression. We must protect our cultural heritage strongly, effectively
and unambiguously. In order to achieve this, G .D . Salwan public school
organized a yet another endeavor by SPIC MACAY to showcase a beautiful facet of
Indian culture, as part of our school’s annual event- VIRASAT.
Mr Chinivas Mahato, a senior dancer of Bengal was our
guest of honour. Along with his troupe members, he performed one of the most
spectacular dance form of India i.e ‘Purulia Chhau’. Mr mahato has endeavored to expand the
Purulia Chhau repertoire by choreographing new and highly acclaimed composition
based on mythology and aspects of everyday life. It is basically a martial dance which has single focus i.e Good
triumphs over evil.
Learning Outcome
The
traditions of Indian dance and dance dramas are among the most perplexingly
complex and varied theatrical cultures of the world. The geographical vastness,
different ecological conditions, multiplicity of races and their languages have
all contributed in creating the most colorful panorama of dance. Through this
brilliant performance students were able to experience one of the most famous
dance form and also the spectacular Indian culture, of which it is an integral
part. The students also gained knowledge about the historical importance of
those dance forms and the need to preserve and respect it. They understood and
